Pictures from Ukraine - Water/Fire

HD video loop

"Pictures from Ukraine" is a visual commentary on the representation of revolution and conflict in relation to elementary forces. These forces equally rule collectives and individuals. Real footage from Ukraine sent to Jan by Maidan activists was transformed into this minimalist video on the body of elements. Curator Inez Ruiz Artola, wrote "(...) su vídeo "Agua y fuego: paisaje de Ucrania" que cerraba la muestra con una nota minimalista, elegante (el agua) y al tiempo llena de la potencialidad expresiva del fuego (los medios, Ucrania…los conflictos)."

Interrelation of two series of video shots: the body of a woman versus the body of a doll/a model, both under a force of male gaze. The instalation is focused on a relation between two images, that of an actress during photo session and that of a one-to-one model, effigy of her body, prepared to be burned. Double role of a "photographer" who - with the use of a shutter-trigger - changes place of projections, from above to below and vice versa. Changing hierarchy, he swaps what is alive in the place of the dead, and back.

Commencement of Construction Work on the Museum

On the night of May 2012, two visual artists, Tomek Saciłowski and Tomek Partyka, sick and tired of waiting for officials and permissions, decided to start the construction of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw on their own.

What you see is what you get? A complex problem of vision (seeing and recognizing) is asked together with a question of the speed of life and light. Initally filmed to be a cinematographical etude - the footage shot by Carlos Cruz was reedited and composed with Mikolaj Trzaska's musical improvisations.

Dedicated to one of Poland's most important esoteric artists, Andrzej Urbanowicz, this piece was made using all methods of magical influence and sensory deprivation. Video used as a talisman against depression and impotence.

The Grandmaster

Fisherle lives under the bed of a young whore. He is fascinated by chess, listens to the radio transmissions of the games. Suddenly one day, as a client to the prostitute arrives the great Capablanca in his own person. The Game starts, the game for everything. Never finished film of Daniel Bauman, inspired by motives from Elias Canetti's "Auto-da-fe", was reorganized and reedited by Jan. This work was a inception, a commencement for a multiannual project of elevating the art of film editing to a major role in creation, called Postdirection.
